I was kind of disappointed today morning noticing that my blog pictures had disappeared – at least one cannot see my pictures any more appearing at the main page. On the one hand is true that academic texts and pictures do not suit together. I even remember from the period of theology studies that the more colours a person wears the more mundane s/he usually is. Still, I consider blogging, even academic blogging, beyond strictly academic. I do hope that I have not got it wrong.
From the other hand, pictures and music sometimes say more than words and may determine more than formal processes. The Finnish political internet newsletter „Verkkoapila“ has very recently written about political manipulation by media towards the Prime Minister at http://www.verkkoapila.fi/opencms/opencms/apila/opinions/columns/0208.html (28.9.2009). I actually wanted to write about the autumn session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) that takes place in Strasbourg from 28 September to 2 October 2009, where the topics concerning the challenges posed by climate change, the war between Russia and Georgia (one year after), the election of the Council of Europe’s new Secretary General, etc. are discussed, as well as a call for an additional protocol to the European Convention on Human Rights on the right to a healthy environment.
